We recognize that for us, it's never just about sex; it's about reclaiming our narratives, healing from past wounds, and celebrating our multifaceted identities.

Our mission is to empower individuals to explore their sexuality, cultivate healthy relationships, and foster connections based on respect, consent, and mutual understanding.
Through educational resources, workshops, and community events, we aim to promote awareness, understanding, and acceptance of diverse sexualities. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and open dialogue, we strive to create a vibrant community where individuals feel empowered to embrace their authentic selves and connect with others in meaningful ways.
Our story
The Lair Company (TLC) was founded by dynamic Holistic Intimacy Doula and Spiritual Life Coach, Essence B. Monroe, who discovered her intrigue for intimate connection, love, and radical self-acceptance at a young age. Recognizing the need for community spaces centered on Black people embracing the art of "being" and intimacy building, she created TLC. Black individuals have been historically separated and degraded for desiring to embrace a healthy relationship with one another. However, in their journey towards spiritual and intimate fulfillment, they have demonstrated remarkable resilience, embracing their true selves and authentic expressions with grace and strength.
Essence's ultimate aspiration for TLC is to expand its reach beyond its origin and evolve into an international travel retreat. Dedicated to offering black people from across the globe a transformative opportunity to embark on a space that invites them to show up, explore the depths of their true selves, and fully embody their authenticity in a nurturing and empowering environment.
